GHS Connect #1 Monday 8th September

Mia's notes

I hope everyone enjoyed the first week back last week. I certainly felt that it was positive with some really insightful sessions from the Learning and Teaching team on the Greenford High Five and a great session on AI by Harpal.  There is more information about both of these aspects further below.

As I said last week, the key takeaway messages are that ‘everyone is a great teacher with ambition for all’ and the importance of consistency as a school, so we are all working together and supporting each other by doing the same thing.  If we can manage these two things, I have no doubt that we will support all students to progress from their starting points to places that even they think are not possible. To do that, we need to be clear what makes the difference between a Grade 3,4,5 and 6 and beyond, and take time to show the students and support them in getting there.

I know we can do it, so as I said last week, let’s make 2025-26 count!

Have a lovely first full week,

Mia

AI - are you ready for some innovation, and perhaps to save some time too?

One of the secrets to effectively using AI, is the prompt. An effective prompt will make all of the difference.
Remember to try the RISEN framework as your first prompt.

Pastoral Reminders

A return from holidays can often be a time when we might see changes in students. Please be alert to this and raise any relevant concerns through CPOMs.

Please remind yourself about your tutor group’s assembly slot and ensure consistency in the delivery of form time messages. The better informed our students are about what we want them to do, the fewer excuses they have for when they don’t comply!

A reminder to all staff to please read the Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 edition document, which can be accessed via this link and then submit your Declaration (also in the link below) by next Friday, 12th September.

In addition, below is a link to the Prevent Duty Training from the Summer Term.

If you are a new member of Staff, please complete Course 1 by 19th September and attach your certificate when submitting your response - see the email that Monika Sierkowska sent out which contains the Google Response form.

Existing members of Staff who still need to do the training, please submit your declaration and certificate upon completion of Course 1 as soon as possible.
